Individual therapy is the process of working with a psychologist in a one-on-one setting (either face-to-face or via telehealth) with the aim of resolving distressing symptoms, adjusting to live events or significant challenges, and promoting personal growth and mental wellness.

The Lightner Centre offers comprehensive psychological assessments that are utilised to evaluate an individual’s symptoms, behaviours, mental health, and cognitive function to support diagnosis and treatment planning. All Psychological Assessments commence with an Initial Clinical Interview which is charged at $300. With a referral and Mental Health Care Plan from a GP, a Medicare rebate can be applied to this initial consultation. At this initial consultation, your psychologist will review your history and determine the most appropriate assessment protocol to be completed.
The follow up assessments, observations (if required), and feedback sessions do not attract any Medicare rebates. The duration of these session will depend on the assessment protocol being completed and your psychologist will advise you of the required assessments and duration at the conclusion of the initial consultation.
The Comprehensive Written Report that is provided following the feedback session will outline current strengths and difficulties, any diagnoses provided, and evidence-based treatment recommendations.
