Personal Profile

Lauren McIntosh is an experienced Clinical Psychologist with advanced including a Master of Psychology (Clinical), a Graduate Diploma in Psychology (Honours), and a Bachelor of Social Science (Psychology). Lauren is a clinically endorsed psychologist with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA) and a full member of the Australian Psychological Society (APS). Additionally, Lauren is a Board-Approved STAP-trained supervisor.

 

Lauren began her professional journey with undergraduate studies in Melbourne and post-graduate studies on the Sunshine Coast. She began consulting in private practice in Brisbane in 2013, where she also commenced a two-year clinical endorsement program, leading to her membership in the Australian Psychological Society College of Clinical Psychologists.

 

Throughout her career, Lauren has gained significant experience working with adolescents and adults presenting with a broad range of clinical issues including:

  • Grief and Adjustment Disorders

  • Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD)

Lauren's therapeutic approach is centred around creating a safe, secure, and reliable environment in which clients are empowered to set the pace and define their goals. She views her role in therapy not only as helping clients alleviate symptoms of mental illness but also as understanding the story behind the presenting problems, exploring why they exist in the first place. Lauren believes that being a psychologist is an honour and that unconditional positive regard is fundamental to facilitating therapeutic recovery.

 

Lauren practices using a scientist-practitioner model and employs evidence-based therapeutic methods including:

  • Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT); and

  • Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing Therapy (EMDR).

 

With a strong commitment to providing high-quality care, Lauren ensures that her therapeutic approach is tailored to meet the unique needs and goals of each client. She values the collaborative nature of the therapeutic process and is dedicated to helping clients work through their challenges in a compassionate and empowering environment.
